I started Interlaken Engineering and Design PLLC after coming to appreciate the high standard for stormwater management in the Puget Sound region. I relocated to the Seattle area after ten years of learning even the most arcane components of Massachusetts municipal codes. I considered myself an expert in drainage design; but when most stormwater drains to salmon-bearing streams, as it does in the Pacific Northwest, it’s a whole new ballgame. Over years working here in the Seattle area I came to appreciate how much effort goes into ensuring that stormwater for even small-scale projects is meticulously and safely diverted. This diligence comes at a cost, however, which can make drainage design prohibitively expensive for some small-scale developers or folks just trying to build an addition on their homes. Enter: Interlaken Engineering. Our goal is to provide high-quality and efficient expertise at a price point that is accessible to developers across the continuum, especially those working on single family or smaller projects. We believe that everyone benefits when municipalities pay attention to stormwater and aim to make responsible drainage design as painless and accessible as possible for everyone.
